CAF awarded Nigeria three points and three goals after the Super Eagles were held hostage in Libya.
The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has launched an appeal against the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to award Nigeria a 3-0 victory in the botched 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
The match which was originally scheduled for October 15th in Benghazi, was marred by significant logistical issues and mistreatment of the Nigerian team.
The Super Eagles were subjected to a lengthy delay, poor accommodation, and a forced change of airport, leading to their withdrawal from the fixture.

Nigeria win, South Africans 'cry' - Reactions as CAF awards Super Eagles 3 points after Libya mess
South Africans have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the CAF verdict.
In response to the incident, CAF's Disciplinary Board ruled in favour of Nigeria, imposing a $50,000 fine on the LFF. The decision has not sat well with the Libyan football authorities, who believe the punishment is excessive and unjustified.
According to reports from Libyan outlet alwasat.ly, LFF spokesperson said, "We strongly disagree with CAF's decision. We believe the circumstances surrounding the match were beyond our control. We are confident that our appeal will be successful."

Nigeria on course for AFCON spot after CAF hands down Libya verdict
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have gained a crucial advantage toward AFCON qualification after a CAF decision involving Libya, setting them up for a decisive match against Benin Republic next month.
The LFF has enlisted the services of Tunisian lawyer Ali Abbas to represent them in the appeal process. Abbas is a seasoned legal expert with a strong track record in sports law.
The outcome of the appeal will have significant implications for both Nigeria and Libya's chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
After CAF's verdict, the Super Eagles now have 10 points, while Libya sit at the bottom with only 1 point after four matches. The Eagles will face Benin Republic and Rwanda on matchdays 5 and 6, respectively, in November.
