A Nigerian boy from Uyo has shared the remarkable story of how he came into possession of Victor Boniface’s football boots and made a tidy profit by selling them to a Rwandan player.

In a clip posted on X by Nigerian media outlet Brila, the 15-year-old recounted how the Bayer Leverkusen forward handed him his boots following the Super Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to Rwanda in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last November.

Reflecting on the moment, the boy revealed what he did after receiving the boots from Boniface.

“I sold the boots to an opponent for $100,” he said.

He went on to explain how he used the money wisely, purchasing a bicycle, school bags, and a uniform. Expressing his gratitude, he also sent his best wishes to Boniface.

Residing in Akwa Ibom, the youngster is one of many eager fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the Super Eagles as they prepare to take on Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday in a crucial World Cup qualifier.

Boniface did not feature in Nigeria’s win over Rwanda last time out, but he will be hoping to make his first appearance under new head coach Eric Chelle when the Super Eagles face Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday.
