Nigerian Champions Enugu Rangers have booked a ticket to the next round of the CAF Champions League against US Zilimadjou.

Enugu Rangers, the reigning Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, have successfully secured their place in the next round of the CAF Champions League after a nail-biting encounter against US Zilimadjou of Comoros.

The Flying Antelopes progressed with a 2-1 aggregate victory, despite being held to a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their first-round preliminary round match at home in Uyo.

This result, combined with their narrow 1-0 away win in the first leg, was enough to see them through to the next stage of Africa's premier club competition.

Friday's match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo proved to be a tenser affair than many had anticipated. Rangers, entering the game as favourites due to their first-leg advantage, found themselves frustrated by a resilient Zilimadjou side for much of the match.

The breakthrough finally came in the 79th minute when Kenechukwu Agu converted a penalty to give Rangers the lead. This goal seemed to have settled the tie, but the visitors had other ideas.

Zilimadjou netted a fantastic equaliser with just five minutes left on the clock, in a dramatic turn of events, cancelling out Kenechukwu's opener and setting up a nervy finale.

The Comorian side pushed hard for a second goal that would have forced extra time, but Rangers' defence held firm under pressure.

The match highlighted both the potential and the areas for improvement for Fidelis Ilechukwu's side. While they managed to progress, the narrow margin of victory and the late scare will give the coaching staff plenty to ponder as they prepare for tougher challenges ahead in the competition.

As the Antelopes progress in the CAF Champions League, they will be looking to build on this experience and sharpen their performance. Their advancement keeps alive Nigerian hopes for continental success, with the Flying Antelopes aiming to make a significant impact in Africa's most prestigious club tournament.

Rangers and their fans will now wait for the winner between Sagrada Esperanca of Angola and Louis Suns United of Seychelles to know their next opponent as their team continues its quest for glory on the continental stage.
