Awaziem speaks on MLS move
Awaziem, who has earned 33 caps for the Super Eagles, including appearances at the 2018 World Cup and 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, took to social media to break his silence on the transfer.
The AFCON defender posted a three-word message alongside photos of him in his new kit: "New start, new beginning."
The defender joins Cincinnati following the expiration of his contract with Boavista FC, where he made 27 appearances and played a crucial role in the club's successful fight against relegation last season.
His move to the MLS will see him come up against the likes of Lionel Messi, who is at Inter Miami and recently won the Copa América with Argentina.
The Nigerian international brings a wealth of experience to the Cincinnati roster, having made nearly 300 professional appearances across his career.
His defensive solidity and ability on the ball are expected to bolster a Cincinnati side aiming to make a push for the playoffs in the upcoming MLS season.
Awaziem's move to the United States marks the end of a successful spell in Europe, and the defender will be looking to make an immediate impact in the MLS as he embarks on this new chapter in his career.
