Ilechukwu, who guided Rangers FC to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) championship last season, will bring his wealth of experience to the Super Eagles setup.
His colleague Ogunmodede, who led Remo Stars to a runners-up finish in the NPFL, has also been recognised for his coaching acumen and will join the national team's technical crew.
The appointments come after the NFF's negotiations with German manager Bruno Labbadia broke down over tax-related issues, leading them to turn to the experienced Eguavoen to take charge of the Super Eagles on an interim basis for the upcoming internationals.
Per Pulse Sports Nigeria, the Nigerian national team's technical director, Austin Eguaveon, is set to reprise his role as the Super Eagles interim coach after the NFF's negotiations with Bruno Labbadia fell through.
The decision to bring in Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede, two of the most successful NPFL coaches in recent times, despite the disastrous Finidi George era, is seen as a move to infuse fresh ideas and local expertise into the Super Eagles setup.
Both coaches have proven their ability to extract the best from their players and will be tasked with providing valuable insights and support to Eguavoen as the team prepares for the crucial AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
With the Super Eagles facing must-win matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda, the addition of Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede to the coaching staff is expected to provide a much-needed boost as the team aims to secure its place in the upcoming continental showpiece.
