Alex Iwobi's new rap track reminded Nigerians of a Jay Jay Okocha song 30 years ago.

Alex Iwobi recently released his second single under Project 17 and it brought to the fore his uncle, Jay Jay Okocha's rap song from the mid-90s.

As Pulse Sports reported, Alex Iwobi released his second single in a young music career, titled “What's Luv,” and it has been well received by fans.

The track is described as a fusion of Afro-swing and hip-hop, with the Nigerian flowing effortlessly on the best, displaying his variety of talent.

The song was a collaborative project, as he featured close friend SPKS and up-and-coming artiste MBrown. It is his second single, after releasing his first track, “Don't Shoot,” a few months ago.

Nigerians draw parallels with JJ

Iwobi is famously related to the retired great Nigerian number 10, JJ Okocha, as he is the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder’s nephew.

While Iwobi's energetic box-to-box play style is nothing like Okocha's flair-filled offering, the Fulham midfielder’s recent off-field activities reminded Nigerians of his uncle.

30 years ago, before Iwobi was even born, Okocha released a record in which he rapped. The title of the track released in 1994 was “I am JJ,” and after Iwobi’s release, Nigerians reached for the classic track and reminisced.
