Flying Eagles arrive in Togo for WAFU B U20 Men's Tournament
Ahead of their first game against Burkina Faso, the Flying Eagles arrive in Togo for the WAFU B U20 Men's Tournament.
The Flying Eagles landed in Lome as favorites following a rigorous one-week camping program at the Remo Stars Training Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State where they got a N1 million boost.
The defeated means the Flying Eagles who won the last edition are struggling to advance to the knockout round.
The reigning champions now have an uphill task to get it to the knockout stages.
If the Flying Eagles win their championship defense in Togo and bring the trophy back to their homeland, Mr. Soname chairman of Nigeria Premier Football League team Remo Stars has promised them N5 million.
Nigeria 0-1 Burkina Faso
In the first game, the Flying Eagles found it difficult to break down their opponent.
In the first half without a goal, the Flying Eagles were contained as Burkina Faso had the better opportunities to score.
In the 56th minute, Burkina Faso were rewarded with a goal breaking down the Nigerian defense.
That was the only goal of the game as Burkina Faso held on for the win against the Flying Eagles to take three points.
There will be only two teams from each group that advance to the semi-final.
The Flying Eagles must regroup and concentrate on their pivotal match against the Ivorians on Thursday, while Burkina Faso will play Cote d'Ivoire in their second Group B match on Monday.
The current competition in Togo serves as a qualifier for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in 2020.
