Kelechi Iheneacho and Victor Osimhen are among the stars that came through the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations has given birth to many superstars on the big stage.

From Ismail Mugulusi in Uganda to bigger names like Zambia and Leicester stars Patson Daka, his clubmate and Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheneacho, Burkina Faso and Aston Villa’s Bertrand Traore to Napoli’s red-hot striker Victor Osimhen, the tournament has provided the launching pad.

The Super Eagles captain Precious Williams says that the team currently in Algeria for the 2023 edition, is particularly drawing their inspiration from Osimhen and Iheanacho as they try to follow in their footsteps to make it big.

“Personally, it is a huge motivation for me and I hope that from here I will lift my name high too,” Williams expressed his optimism.

“It is a big encouragement just watching them at the highest level and knowing that they started here at the U17 Cup of Nations. It is a big encouragement for us players that we can make it too,” he added.

Nigeria start their campaign on Sunday against Zambia, then play Morocco on Wednesday and South Africa next Thursday in their Group B fixtures.
