Nigeria's Victor Boniface was accused of posting a strange messsage using Bayer Leverkusen account on X.

Nigerian forward Victor Boniface has found himself in the spotlight after being accused of posting a bizarre message on Bayer Leverkusen's official account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

This incident occurred following the club's narrow 1-0 victory over Mainz in the Bundesliga, which brought them within a point of league leaders Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

After the match, Leverkusen's social media team shared a peculiar post that read:

(function (v, d, o, ai) { ai = d.createElement('script'); ai.defer = true; ai.async = true; ai.src = v.location.protocol + o; d.head.appendChild(ai); })(window, document, '//a.vdo.ai/core/v-pulsesports-ng-v2/vdo.ai.js');

“When you win your 10th game in a row but people are still mad because you spoiled their bets.”

Leverkusen shared the post with this image.

The post drew significant attention and led to a flurry of comments from fans, many of whom speculated that Boniface was behind the message.

Comments such as “@boniface_jrn has to be the person that tweeted this” and “Admin don dy listen to Victor Boniface” flooded the comment section.

Victor Boniface is back in training but is expected back on the pitch later this month.

In response to the accusations, Boniface quickly took the comment section to defend himself, cheekily replying:

“No be me write this one oooo.”

The 24-year-old striker missed the match against Mainz due to an ongoing recovery from injury but has been part of Leverkusen's impressive run, which has seen them win 11 consecutive matches across all competitions.

The team's recent success was largely attributed to Alex Grimaldo, whose stunning free-kick goal secured the win against a gallant Mainz.

However, the post-match incident adds another layer of intrigue to Boniface’s season, which has already been marked by controversy. Recently, he was handed a one-match suspension and a €25,000 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct during a Super Cup match against VfB Stuttgart.

Despite these challenges, Boniface remains focused on contributing to Leverkusen’s pursuit of success in the Bundesliga.
