Chelsea have reportedly turned down a bid of £30m from Brighton to sign their defender Levi Colwill as new manager Mauricio Pochettino sees him as a vital part of his plans.
Colwill spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Brighton and was excellent for the Seagulls as they earned a Europa League spot by finishing sixth.
Chelsea reject Brighton bid for Colwill
According to The Athletic, the young defender has fears about his development at Chelsea, with the raft of defenders available at the club but it is believed new boss Mauricio Pochettino is very keen to work with him.
The 20-year-old's contract expires in 2025 and that will become even more significant if he chooses not to extend as Chelsea could be forced to sell this summer to avoid a similar situation with Mason Mount who has just one year left.
The Blues do have the option of extending his deal by an extra year but that can only be triggered if Colwill plays a certain number of matches.
