No mercy for Benin, Rwanda as Lookman and Osimhen arrive Super Eagles camp

Oshimen and Lookman’s arrivals bring the total number of players in the Super Eagles camp to 21.

The current African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen, and Atlanta star man Ademola Lookman have arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The arrival of the duo is a welcome development as Nigeria prepares for the final two qualifying matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The camp officially opened on Monday, with eight players arriving that evening; the team will focus on training and discipline in the build-up to the games.

The Super Eagles will face the Benin Republic at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium on Thursday for Matchday Five, followed by a home match against Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Matchday Six.

With the arrival of Oshimen and Lookman, 21 players are in the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan.

The full list of players in camp includes Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi, Sevilla's Kelechi Iheanacho, Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, Victor Boniface, Ademola Lookman, and Victor Osimhen.

The team captain, William Troost-Ekong, is also in camp alongside Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina, USA-based player Alhassan Yusuf, and Bright Osayi-Samuel, who plays in Turkey.

Fulham's stars, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, Victor Collin, Amas Obasogie, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, Samuel Chukwueze, Gabriel Osho and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru complete players in camp.

Nigeria tops its group with 10 points from four matches and requires just one point from the remaining two to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.
