Cole Palmer discussed his limited playing time so far in the European Championships.

Chelsea star Cole Palmer explained that he is still in full spirits despite his limited game time for England at the European Championships.

Palmer was one of the best players in the Premier League last season, picking up the Young Player of the Year and Gamechanger of the Season awards, but these have not gotten him a prominent role in Gareth Southgate’s side.

He was an unused substitute in the Three Lions’ first two games, and in the third, he only managed 19 minutes in which he brought spark to England's play.

What Palmer said

Speaking after the game about his lack of game time and his remarkable performance when he eventually came on, Palmer explained that he remains positive and will help the team any way he can.

"I'm still full of belief," Palmer said, per Goal. "After the season I've had, I don't see any reason why I should be down. So I will just try and stay positive and when I get on the pitch, try to make an impact."

"I just tried to play my game when I went on and I think I did that. I tried to create chances and be positive.

“There are great players everywhere in the team, so I'm just supporting whoever is on the pitch [when substitute] and when I get my chance, I need to try and show what I can do."

Palmer in England's performance level

"Our goal was to qualify and finish top of the group and we've done that. But we know there are levels we can go up and hopefully we can show that.”

"All the games in the tournament are difficult as you can see, no matter who it is. So we know we need to move up through those [performance] levels and hopefully we can do that."
