Ademola Lookman is delighted with his decision to represent Nigeria over England
Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has admitted his pride to represent the Super Eagles over the Three Lions of England.
The Atalanta goal-getter had represented England at u-19, u-20 and u-21 levels but switched allegiance to Nigeria, making his Super Eagles debut in March 2022.
Lookman has since come out to reiterate his pride in the decision to switch from England the country of his birth to his fatherland Nigeria.
Lookman proud to play for Nigeria
Lookman aired his thoughts on the Super Eagles in an interview with L'Eco di Bergamo as reported by CalcioAtalanta revealed his pride to play for Nigeria.
“No regrets, I made the right decision," Lookman stated emphatically in response to a question about his decision to pick Nigeria over England.
The winger was 24 years old when he made his Super Eagles debut against Ghana, coming off the bench in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers double-header.
"This is my career and I play for Nigeria, I'm proud of this. I was born in England, but my family origins are Nigerian, I am tied to both countries in the same way," Lookman said.
The 25-year-old has so far played six games for Nigeria scoring once so far in a 10-0 drubbing of Sao Tome including two assists.
Lookman has been in spectacular form this season for Atalanta with 14 goals in 22 games across all competitions for La Dea.
He will be hoping to replicate that form for Nigeria in the upcoming double-header AFCON qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau in March.
