Former Maroons FC goalkeeper Simon Tamale has clinched the Pilsner Uganda Premier League Goalkeeper of the Season award.
The goal-minder, all smiles and clad in a suit, was awarded at the colourful awarding ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel, Kampala on Thursday.
Tamale, now at Rayon Sport in Rwanda, beat Soltilo Bright Stars' Hassan Matovu and URA FC skipper Nafian Alionzi to the award.
Tamale at Maroons, was hugely impressive last season as he bagged the golden glove, having amassed 13 clean-sheets. He's thus the favorite to win the award.
His top perfomances also earned him a Player of the Season nomination, where he will be battle it out with Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa and SC Villa's Charles Bbaale.
Tamale won seven Player of the Match and two Monthly awards, the most by any player in the previous campaign.
In the other categories, Blacks Power FC won the Fair Play Award after collecting 30 yellow cards and no red card.
SC Villa forward clinched the Players' Player of the season award as voted for by the 15 captains in the league.
Milton Karisa took home the Coaches' Player of the Season award, after a pulsating campaign with Vipers.
Laban Tibiita of Busoga United, beat Wakiso Giants FC's Lawrence Bukenya and Arua Hill SC's Gadafi Wahab to the Midfielder of Season accolade.
