Nigerian-Swiss forward Noah Okafor has revealed his excitement at playing for AC Milan alongside Portuguese superstar Rafael Leao

AC Milan’s latest signing, Noah Okafor, has opened up about his friendship with Rossoneri star Rafael Leao, who urged him to sign for the club this summer.

Okafor tells of good friendship with Leao

After meeting on the pitch twice, Okafor and Leao have established a friendship and finally get to play together after the Portuguese star encouraged the Nigerian-Swiss star to trade the German streets of Leipzig for Milan.

Speaking at his unveiling, Okafor told Milan TV, “I’ve known him for quite long. The first time we met was in Switzerland vs. Portugal, then with Milan [against RB Salzburg].

“We started texting, changed jerseys, remained in contact, and sometimes he Facetimed. He’s a good guy, always positive. He always tells me Milan is a great club, where we train with fast players and dribblers, I can’t wait to get on the pitch with him. Not off the pitch like before.

Okafor also revealed that Leao encouraged him to join Milan, noting that his strengths suit the Serie A.

The 23-year-old recalled Leao’s sentiments, saying, “He said that with my quality and speed in the one versus one, Italy is a good next step and I feel confident and good to try Milan.”

Finally, Okafor revealed his joy at joining the Rossoneri, saying, “It’s a dream come true, I am really happy to be here, in a big club with a big history behind,” he said.

“I can’t wait to see the fans at San Siro. A few months ago I played against Milan and then a few days ago, like two weeks ago I had the information. I was shocked and really happy. I had a smile on my face, I just wanted Milan and I was happy, finally, I’ve signed now and there is no better feeling.”

AC Milan’s latest signing signed a five-year contract after signing from Leipzig and could be with the Rossoneri until 2028.
