Vipers SC director Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, has notified the players to get acquainted with the fierce competition for the positions at the club.

Mulindwa told his troops to battle for their starting berths individually rather than complain to get the best out of the team.

The celebrated educationist made the remarks during a luncheon with the players, the coaching staff and the administration on Saturday.

"Which kind of club did you join?" Mulindwa posed the question before highlighting: "Is it a club that is just there to participate? No..."

"Vipers is a competitive club, and for a club of this level, there must be competition," he said in a frank assertion.

"This is what I want you to accept, gentlemen; that there has to be competition, and there's nobody with a permanent place," Mulindwa added.

The team is stacked with quality in all departments, and various players are bound to suffer from insufficient playing time.

"I want to make it very clear, get it from your president; there is nobody with a permanent place; you (have to) compete for those places," he reiterated.

"Otherwise, we're not stupid to spend money on 40 people (players) when we knew 20 would do the work."

"But, we know whoever has been accepted can make a contribution to the performance of the team. Don't sleep and assume you own a place; nobody owns a number," Mulindwa re-asserted.

To put Vipers' quality and depth in context, their forward-line has stars including; Milton Karisa, Yunus Sentamu, Mohamed Salem Ekbad, Fumador Asiwome, Erick Kambale, Martin Kizza, Abdu Lumala, Rodriguez Shamamba, Abubakar Lawal and many more.

The club's midfield isn't different, with faces like Siraje Ssentamu, Nzau Lutumba, David Bagoole, Karim Watambala, Bright Anukani, Allan Okello, Marvin Joseph Youngman and others.

Their defence boasts the likes of Grant Matsiko, Richard Matovu, Patrick Mbowa, Murushid Juuko, Isa Mubiru, Ashraf Mandela, Hilary Mukundane, Livingstone Mulondo, Rogers Torach, Enock Luyima and others.

The same can be said of the goalkeeping department, with Jack Komakech, Denis Kiggundu, Fabien Mutombora, and Alfred Mudekereza still on the club's books.
