The pundits offered diverse perspectives, ranging from cautious optimism to outright scepticism.
Deputy Managing Editor, Asukwo Oduo expressed confidence in Chelle's potential.
"I believe in Eric Chelle. I've not watched a lot of his games but I believe he'd deliver the goods for the Super Eagles," he said.
Izuchukwu Akawor raised concerns about the process and Chelle's suitability.
"Let us be sure NFF got permission from him to announce him as our coach first. Then, we can look at him as another appointment. He is only the second foreigner in the Super Eagles' last 12 coaches. Let us see what he will cook, once we are sure he is our coach.

The former Nigeria international has also lent his voice to the recent appointment of Eric Chelle
'Let me add, he has the best attack in Africa, I want to see how he makes the best use of the world-class talents," the senior Sports writer said.
Faruq Ibrahim adopted a more neutral stance, stating, "It's not an exciting appointment, nor is it a head-scratcher. It's not an obviously bad choice either. All we can do is wait and see."
David Ben acknowledged Chelle's lack of experience at the highest international level but pointed to the recent unexpected success of greenhorn managers in African football.
"Look, El Balde is obviously not a proven coach at the highest level of international football. But if anything AFCON 2023 taught us that any coach can achieve continental glory. I’ve got no real opinion of him and I can’t get excited until the Super Eagles reach another AFCON final (If & when that happens)," he said.
Hassan Abdulsalam called for a united front of support from Nigerian fans.
"Eri Chelle has been appointed, all we need is to support him to deliver, the passion and loves from Nigeria is topnotch, even if we hire the best coach in the world we will complain," he said.
The diverse opinions from the Pulse Sports Nigeria's pundits underscore the uncertainty surrounding Chelle's appointment and the high expectations placed on the new Super Eagles manager.
