Super Eagles star Gift Orban is set to be offloaded by Lyon after a difficult start to his career in France.
The striker made his big move from Belgium Jupiler League Pro club Gent to French team Lyon in January 2023 for a fee worth €14 million.
Before his move to Lyon, he went on a scoring rampage, making 22 appearances for Gent, scoring 20 goals and providing two assists.
However, he has had difficulty securing a starting position despite the team's dismal performance in its last several games.

Lyon are looking to let Gift Orban leave before the transfer window closes after recently signing Euro 2024 top scorer.
According to reports from Le Progres, this was not a result of the player's injury; rather, coach Sage made this decision.
Gift Orban's future at The 23-year-old, who had just returned to France from Ajax, signed a contract with Lyon from Ligue 2 team Metz.
Lyon is currently up in the air following the signing of Georgia's Georges Mikautadze, one of the leading scorers of the 2024 European Championship.
The new signing has left Orban in a difficult position in the team as the club looks to let him go this season.
With Pierre Sage in charge of the Lyon team, things seem to have gotten worse for Orban, who already had limited playing time.
