The coach of Nigeria's Flying Eagles has embraced the challenge thrown at him from the Cote d'Ivoire 2025 draw.
Following the recent draw for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to take place in Cote d'Ivoire from April 26 to May 18, 2025, Nigeria's Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has expressed his optimism about their chances.
Nigeria will face formidable opponents in Group B, after the Eagles were pitted against giants Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa.

The highly rated midfielder is eyeing the Nigeria senior national team the Super Eagles after impressing in the Flying Eagles.
Understanding the significance of the upcoming matches, Coach Zubairu emphasised the importance of mental readiness.
He aims to instil a strong sense of self-belief within his squad, encouraging them to approach every opponent with respect and seriousness.
“We need to dispel the notion that this is a ‘group of death,” he stated. “In African football, there are no small teams anymore. The key is to prepare very well. A lesser-known nation can surprise everyone if they come prepared.”
In a statement reflecting his confidence, Zubairu remarked further, “It’s a very good draw. If a team truly aspires to reach the FIFA World Cup, there is no need to shy away from any opponent. Facing Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa at this stage presents a tremendous opportunity. I believe it’s a blessing.”

To ensure the team is adequately prepared for the challenges ahead, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has placed the Flying Eagles in camp for training with a 30-man squad.
Additionally, they have organised a two-match tour of Cairo where the team will face the Egyptian U20 side on February 25 and 27.
