After 13 minutes, former AaB player Oliver Klitten had a good opportunity to put the visitors ahead from the edge of the small goal area, but his attempt went past Josip Posavec's goal.
Nicklas Helenius had a great opportunity to put the hosts into the lead in the 30th minute when rose to the air at the back post and headed a cross from Younes Bakiz into the ground on the way to the goal but Hobro IK’ Jonathan Fischer stood in the way.
This led to AaBorg creating a couple of chances and forced Hobro IK’s keeper into making another excellent save In the 35th minute, when Helenius headed a cross from Kasper Jørgensen towards goal.
Shortly after, Mads Bomholt took the chance from distance with an attempt that sat straight at n Fischer, who also got both his gloves and his body behind a long-range shot from Malthe Højholt three minutes before the half-time whistle.

Ten minutes after the break, Aalborg coach Oscar Hiljemark made his first substitution by bringing on Odada for Mads Bomholt. Immediately after, Younes Bakiz knocked a long shot over the goal.
The visitors however took the lead when a cross from Villads Rasmussen sailed into the back area, before Lukas Klitten headed the ball into the back of the net.
Helenius restored parity In the 75th minute when young Oliver Ross was sent through into the visitors' box before cutting the ball back to the experienced striker to make it 1-1.
A handful of minutes later, a hard effort from Mathias Kristensen forced Josip Posavec into a save that resulted in a corner kick.
From the resultant free kick, Simon Jakobsen headed the ball into the back of the net to score what proved to be the winning goal for the visitors.
The result means Aalborg are now second on 38 points.
