Arsenal's Martin Odegaard set an individual record in the Gunners' draw with West Ham
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard reached an individual milestone in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against West Ham, giving him a silver lining to the disappointment of dropping points to their London neighbours even as the title race kicks into high gear.
Odegaard scores 11th Premier League goal against West Ham
Odegaard scored to give Arsenal a two-goal lead after only 10 minutes, as it appeared that the Gunners would run riot against West Ham, but nothing of the sort happened as the Hammers fought from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw.
The two points dropped for Arsenal is a huge blow to their title challenge, but Odegaard’s goal and the milestone that comes with it will give the midfielder some reprieve.
Odegaard sets individual Gunners’ record against West Ham
Odegaard’s goal against West Ham was his 11th goal in the Premier League this season, and also his 8th away from home for the Gunners in the league, which sees him write his name in Arsenal folklore.
With his 8th away goal of the season, Odegaard becomes the Arsenal midfielder with the most away goals in a single Premier League campaign.
Odegaard also previously recorded away goals against Bournemouth, Wolves, Brighton, Tottenham, and Fulham before the game against West Ham, with the game against the Hammers being the only one in which the Norwegian midfielder scored but Arsenal failed to win.
Meanwhile Arsenal set an unwanted record against West Ham
Mikel Arteta and Arsenal dropped more points in the title race as they start to feel the pressure of the run-in with seven games left in the season.
