Sserubiri's departure has been hinged around his reported unpleasant relationship with some technical bench members, including head coach Dusan Stojanovic.

Uganda Premier League holders SC Villa have announced the departure of experienced midfielder Ivan Sserubiri.

Sserubiri has spent the past season and a half with the Jogoos but has now called his time up after a quiet first round of the season.

"A new adventure beckons for Ivan Sserubiri," the club posted on X before adding: "Thank you for everything and good luck, Ivan."

Sserubiri's departure has been hinged around his reported unpleasant relationship with some technical bench members, including head coach Dusan Stojanovic.

Despite his continued availability, Sserubiri has only played thrice in the league this campaign.

Weeks back, it was reported that the player's continued unexplained absence spurred division in the dressing room, with players insisting he was unfairly treated.

Since joining Villa at the start of the 2022/23 season, Sserubiri played 23 league matches, scoring two goals in the process.

The holding midfielder joined the team from URA FC, where he spent three seasons, playing 47 league matches.

Sserubiri has also previously played for Buddu Ssaza and Gomba, as well as Free Stars Football Club.
