Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is now set for a decade with the Cityzens
Pep Guardiola has committed his future to Manchester City by signing a new two-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2027.
The announcement ends speculation about the manager’s future, with his previous deal set to expire at the end of the current season.

The extension comes at a pivotal time for Manchester City. Long-time director of football and Guardiola’s close collaborator, Txiki Begiristain, is set to leave, with Hugo Viana stepping in from Sporting CP.
Many believed Begiristain’s departure might signal the end of Guardiola’s era, but the manager has chosen to stay and work toward building a lasting legacy.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak praised Guardiola's impact, saying, “His hunger for improvement and success remains insatiable, and the direct beneficiaries of that will continue to be our players and coaching staff, the culture of our club, and the English game at large.”
With the team still in contention for another league title this season, Guardiola remains focused on driving Manchester City to further glory, aiming for unprecedented milestones such as a potential fifth consecutive Premier League title.
Guardiola’s unprecedented success at Manchester City
Since joining Manchester City in 2016, Guardiola has revolutionised the club, securing 18 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the historic Champions League triumph in 2023 as part of a treble-winning season.
Even after winning so many accolades, Guardiola is still desperate for more, and after signing his new contract, he said, “This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together.
“I have a really special feeling for this football club. That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons.”
By the time his new deal concludes, Guardiola will have spent a decade at Manchester City, surpassing the combined seven years he spent at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
For rivals, Guardiola’s extension is a daunting prospect, as the tactician shows no signs of loosening Manchester City’s grip on English football anytime soon.
