Muda Lawal Stadium is the state's first stadium, and it was renamed after one of the late sons of the state, Mudashiru Lawal, a member of the victorious Green Eagles that won the Nations Cup in 1980.
The Ogun State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has called on the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, to rehabilitate the state's first stadium, Muda Lawal Stadium.
Pulse Sports reports that Muda Lawal Stadium is the state's first stadium, and it was renamed after one of the late sons of the state, Mudashiru Lawal, a member of the victorious Green Eagles that won the Nations Cup in 1980.
The stadium is located along Ibadan-Abeokuta road and is a national edifice where its main bowl is only good enough for growing cassava, and maize, and is a hideout for hoodlums.

Its dilapidated state was worsened by ex-governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who turned the edifice into a trailer park in 2012.
SWAN urges Abiodun to Rehabilitate Muda Lawal Stadium, others in Ogun
SWAN, in a communiqué at the end of the Monthly Congress for May 2023 at its Moshood Kashimawo Abiola (MKO) Stadium, the SWAN Secretariat on Tuesday urged the government to rehabilitate the main bowl of MKO Stadium, Abeokuta.
The communiqué read, "The Congress commends the Ogun State government for the rehabilitation of MKO Abiola Stadium but urged the government to rehabilitate the main bowl of the stadium, which the NFF had banned from hosting any football event.
"The Congress called for an extension of the gesture to other stadia across the state. The Congress also called for the rehabilitation of the Mundo turf at the MKO Abiola stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, which is in a dilapidated state."
SWAN berates inadequate planning by Ogun Government for hosting National Sports Festival
SWAN also commended the government for upholding the promise it made to the athletes who took part in the most recent National Sports Festival but expressed disapproval of its lack of commitment to hosting the following Sports Festival.

"The Congress commends the government for keeping the promise made to the athletes that participated at the last National Sports Festival but frowned at the poor commitment to the proposed hosting of the next Sports Festival," the communiqué stated.
