The Oracle will be playing his first NPFL game at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne after leaving the club at the end of last season where he helped Remo stars with historical finish on the log.
Shooting Stars head coach Gbenga Ogunbote will return to the Remo Stars stadium for his first Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game after leaving the club last summer.
The Oracle, as it is popularly called, helped the Ikenne-based NPFL club finish third last season to earn a continental slot.
First south west derby of the season
The first southwest derby of the season will be at Ikenne as Remo Stars will host Shooting Stars of Ibadan on Wednesday.
With the fixtures, Daniel Ogunbodede and Gbenga Ogunbote clash in the league for the first time.
The Remo Stars and 3SC have opposing records going into the game today, and the personalities as well as relationships between their coaches add to the potential rivalry between the two clubs.
What happens when they met last season
The Derby is one of the derbies in the league that is surrounded by different controversies on and off the pitch.
Remo Stars defeated Shooting on home soil 1-0, courtesy of team captain Ndukka Junior's spectacular free kick.
The two teams shared the spoils in the second leg in Ibadan, amid the post-match drama.
Emotions won't affect the game - Ogunmodede, Ogunbote blow got
The coaches of the two sides, Daniel Ogumodede of the Remo Stars and Gbenga Ogunbote have revealed that their emotions won't affect the game.
Ogunmodede will be handling his first southwest derby in the NPFL, said Ogunbote is like a father to him, but he won't allow his emotions to affect his job.
Ogunmodede stepped aside for Ogunbote at Remo Stars last season after he helped the team gain promotion for his academics in Portugal.
He added that his mission in the derby is to get maximum points.
“Coach Ogunbote is a senior colleague and a father figure to me. I have much respect for him but I am not going to allow any emotion. I only want to do my job and get what I want. So, I am not trying to use my heart to play, I am trying to use my head.
“The only thing going through my mind is getting the three points from the match. Nothing good comes easy and there is no cheap opponent. We are going to fight to get all the three points against Shooting Stars," he told Punch
On his part, Ogunbote also claimed, “There are no emotions attached in this job. Last season I had a job with Remo and I did it, so, this time around I have a job with 3SC and my responsibility is to get results for my team."
Going into this encounter the two sides have played two matches, Remo have recorded 100% record and placed second with six points in Group A.
Shooting stars on the side, are seventh with two points.
