FBL Okhuti returns from retirement to save Onduparaka as Police draw guns

Okhuti had hanged his boots and was later confirmed as the club’s head coach ahead of the season but surprisingly joined action to score the third goal on Sunday.

Ceasar Okhuti retrieved his old scoring boots on Sunday as he guided Onduparaka to their first win of the 2023/24 betPawa Big League season as they beat Kyetume 3-1 in Arua.

The veteran striker had hanged his boots and was later confirmed as the club’s head coach ahead of the season but surprisingly joined action to score the third goal on Sunday.

Brian Ade gave the Caterpillars an early 4th minute lead but Kyetume levelled back nine minutes later.

Junior Andama restored the lead in the 28th minute stabbing in from the spot after a handball.

Kyetume pressed their visitors late in the game prompting Okhuti to pull out Faisal Senkyanzi and threw himself into the fray in the 75th minute.

The coach-turned-player fired the third goal to ensure Onduparaka matched home with all the three points.

Earlier on Saturday, Police FC recorded their second win on the bounce to take control of the table after overcoming Jinja North United in Bugembe.

Denis Kalanzi scored the all-important goal in the 1-0 win as the hosts were left to rue their missed chances including a penalty.

Goalkeeper Davis Mutebi remained the hero of the match after pulling the 45th minute save to keep out Bronson Nsubuga’s kick after former Police midfielder Benaldo Kateregga had been fouled inside the box.
