Michael Olunga's red-hot form takes center stage as Al Duhail faces Umm Salal in Qatar Stars League

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga is set to lead the attack for Al Duhail as they prepare to face Umm Salal in a Qatar Stars League (QSL) clash at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium this Friday night.

Fresh from his scintillating performance, where he netted twice against Istiklol to secure a crucial 2-0 victory in the AFC Champions League Group E, Olunga is in exceptional form, making him the club's top scorer in the prestigious tournament.

Al Duhail's manager Christophe Galtier spoke with confidence ahead of the much-anticipated clash revealing the team's meticulous preparation for the match.

"I watched the last match between Umm Salal and Al Gharafa to analyze it and find out their strengths. If we want to improve our ranking, we must score points in this match," he explained.

The former PSG manager also acknowledged the challenges posed by Umm Salal, particularly their striking force, highlighting Andy Delort, whom he had previously coached at French club Nice, as a formidable threat.

“We know that we will face a team that has a strong attack line. But on the other hand, our team has players with distinguished defensive abilities who are able to avert the danger of Umm Salal and come out of the match with a positive result that will improve our ranking," he added.

The road ahead will not be easy for Al Duhail, with a packed schedule in the month of December and the absence of key international players.

"We will try to adjust to the difficulties and we will benefit from the coming period in preparing our players Ibrahima Diallo and Luiz Martin as Edmilson continues to be absent,” Galtier concluded.

Teammate Mohammed Al Nuaimi echoed Galtier's confidence and emphasized Al Duhail's determination to achieve a positive result in the upcoming match.

Al Nuaimi noted that the team's recent victories, both in the league against Al Rayyan and in the AFC Champions League against FC Istiklol, had boosted their morale.

One key factor in this clash will be Michael Olunga's form, which has been electric.

Scoring in the 47th and 89th minutes against Istiklol, Olunga's presence on the field is a constant threat to the opposition.

His incredible goal-scoring record in the Qatar Stars League speaks volumes about his ability to find the back of the net consistently.
