Kitale-based Mighty Eagles and MOFA U17 teams are set to compete against international opponents in the prestigious youth tournament.

Kenya's Mighty Eagles Academy are buzzing with excitement as they prepare to embark on a remarkable journey to Sweden for the highly anticipated Gothia U17 Youth World Cup.

The prestigious tournament provides a platform for talented young footballers from around the world to showcase their skills and compete against top-notch teams.

The Kitale-based academy director Moses Zewedi has confirmed their departure, expressing his team's enthusiasm ahead of the tournament.

"We are in Nairobi, our visas were issued, and we are waiting to fly out anytime from now," Zewedi announced with a sense of pride and anticipation.

Mighty Eagles, established in 2019, has made significant strides in engaging youth from different villages in the region, offering them a platform to pursue their football dreams.

The academy's involvement in various tournaments and matches in Kitale have been fruitful, with recent triumphs in both the Under-15 and Under-13 Trans Nzoia County league championships.

As part of Group 2 in the Boys U-17 Category, Mighty Eagles will face formidable opponents from around the globe.

Their opening match is scheduled against Norrtulls on Monday at 4:50 PM (EAT). Alongside Norrtulls, the Kenyan outfit will also contend with German side Dänischenhagen/Keil, Swedish teams Norrtulls K2 and Nasets SK, as well as Portugal's Escola Futebo Fora.

The team has engaged in a series of friendly matches across Kenya to fine-tune their skills and develop formidable strategies to take on their international adversaries.

In another representation from Kenya, the Michael Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA) U17 team has also embarked on the journey to the Gothia U17 Youth World Cup.

Split into two groups, the first batch of nine players departed on Friday, making their way through Doha, Stockholm, and ultimately reaching the tournament venue in Gothenburg.

The second group, comprising ten players, left on Saturday morning, following the same route.

The Gothia U17 Youth World Cup promises to be a platform for these aspiring young athletes to showcase their talent on the international stage.

With teams from various countries vying for supremacy, the tournament is sure to provide a thrilling and competitive atmosphere.
