Firat has named Benson Omala as one of three Gor Mahia players in his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gabon and Seychelles.

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has included three Gor Mahia players in his provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifers against Seychelles and Gabon set to take place later this month.

Firat has recalled Benson Omala and Rooney Onyango to the side, but also given K’Ogalo vice captain Geoffrey ‘Simiti’ Ochieng’ a maiden call-up after enjoying a fine start to the season for the 20-time league champions.

Omala first earned a call-up to the national team under Firat in March for the side’s international friendly against Iran but did not make the final cut.

He did however, take part in the Mauritius Four Nations Tournament in June, earning his debut against the host nation, but underwhelmed and had been overlooked for the last two international windows.

The 22-year-old will be hoping that his selection will give him a chance to earn Firat’s trust. Rooney Onyango had a brilliant debut against Russia in October and will be hoping to keep the run going following another call-up.

Ochieng’ will be hoping to stake his claim as an option at left back this time, as Engin Firat has already given chances to the likes of Abud Omar and Vincent Harper to compliment Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma.

The rest of the squad has yet to be revealed by Firat, but it is expected that it will be named on Sunday, the day after round 10 of Premier League matches conclude.
