Former Barcelona star Iniesta has opened to returning to Camp Nou as coach.

Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has addressed the possibility of following in the footsteps of Pep Guardiola and Xavi Hernandez by managing the Catalan giants in the future, admitting it would be a "beautiful" prospect.

The midfield maestro, a product of La Masia and an icon for the Blaugrana, retired from professional football in October 2024 at the age of 40, after spells with Vissel Kobe in Japan and Emirates Club in the UAE.

What Iniesta said

Speaking exclusively to FourFourTwo, Iniesta reflected on his illustrious career.

He said, "The word that defines how I feel about my career? Pride, in having worked hard until the very last training session."

He added, "The rest is history: titles, defeats, good moments and bad. But what stands out is never giving up. I would have played until 90, but I’m happy to have fulfilled the dream of becoming a footballer."

While a return to football management isn't imminent, Iniesta revealed his enthusiasm for obtaining his coaching license in the future.

When asked about the possibility of managing Barcelona, he acknowledged the widespread expectation but emphasized his current focus on learning and development.

"I know many people expect me to coach Barca one day, but right now I’m not thinking about that. That’s a huge responsibility, especially since I’m just starting out," Iniesta admitted.

However, he left the door firmly open for a potential return to the Camp Nou in a managerial capacity down the line.

"Of course, it’s my home, and hopefully one day I’ll return – we’ll see in what capacity and when. It would be beautiful. Guardiola, Xavi and then Iniesta? Yeah, sounds good," he concluded.

He is also involved in various businesses, including his agency Never Say Never (NSN), trainer company Mikakus Barcelona, and an investment project at the Danish club Helsingor.
