Naija Stars Abroad: Boniface, Aribo and Onuachu shine in Osimhen and Lookman's absence
Victor Boniface led Naija Stars Abroad on his return to action for Leverkusen in the absence of biggest names Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
But the Nigeria international has put in an incredible shift for Ivan Juric’s men in recent games, scoring in back-to-back games, including the latest one against Palace.
Onuachu had scored in Southampton’s 2-1 loss to Wolves just before the international break and has now scored in back-to-back games for the first time in the club colours after opening the scoring against the Eagles.
The 30-year-old opened the scoring for the home side, heading home a brilliant cross from Mateus Fernandes after just 20 minutes.
However, despite Onuachu’s goal, it was not enough to give Southampton their third league win of the season as Matheus Franca’s goal in the second minute of added time salvaged a point for Palace.
The draw did not do Southampton any favour, though, as they are almost confirmed to get relegated this season, having picked up just ten points this season.
Onuachu’s fourth goal of the season takes him past Chelsea’s Nkunku
While Onuachu would have been disappointed not to get the win, his goal was his fourth league goal of the season.

Southampton boss explains why he prefers Onuachu to Saints’ top scorer
Paul Onuachu will likely continue being Southampton's first-choice striker despite not getting amongst the goals often
It takes him past Chelsea’s Christospher Nkunku, who has managed just three league goals this season despite joining the Blues from RB Leipzig for €60.00m (₦99B) in the summer of 2023.

Onuachu’s fourth league goal of the season also makes him the second-highest scoring Nigerian in the Premier League this season behind Alex Iwobi, who has seven goals for Fulham.
