Mbappe has been embroiled in a serious battle with PSG since signing for Real Madrid last summer.

Kylian Mbappé’s legal battle against his former club PSG has taken a fresh twist.

The Real Madrid superstar’s lawyers have reportedly frozen the bank accounts of the Ligue 1 giants, in a furious move to recover a staggering €55 million ($61 million) in unpaid wages.

According to ESPN, Mbappé’s lead lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, confirmed the legal team has had enough after over a year of back-and-forth with the club.

“This story has been going on for just over a year now. One year was the deadline we set for ourselves for trying to resolve this dispute as peacefully as possible,” she said.

“As the months went by, Kylian Mbappé still hasn’t been paid the missing 55 million euros. A decision has been taken, this time to go on the attack.”

Meanwhile, legal expert Thomas Clay revealed that a Paris court authorised a precautionary seizure of funds from PSG’s accounts on Thursday, and a court hearing is set for 26 May.

Mbappe’s lawyer also confirmed plans to escalate matters to UEFA and the French sports minister, accusing PSG of breaching salary obligations, a move that could put their Champions League license at risk.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly hit back with a fiery statement, claiming:

“After hearing yet another fantastic story from a parallel universe today, PSG continues to fail to understand why Kylian Mbappé is not taking his case to the labour chamber… All the procedures announced by Kylian Mbappé’s lawyers only serve to delay the resolution of the dispute.”

The French club insists there was a verbal agreement with the 26-year-old forward that he would relinquish some bonuses in exchange for returning to the team after being dropped last summer.

Mbappé claims he’s owed three months’ salary and the final third of a loyalty bonus.

His sensational move to Real Madrid last year came after a chaotic summer of tension, and a rejected €300m mega-move to Saudi Arabia.

Mbappé was famously booed by PSG fans in his final games for the Parisian giants.

All this happened while he reportedly felt betrayed by the club’s broken promises over signings.
