AFC Leopards new coach Tomas Trucha met his squad for the first time on Tuesday before putting them through their paces as he bids to bring success at the den

AFC Leopards new coach Tomas Trucha conducted his first training session with the squad following his appointment last week.

The Czech national took over from club legend Tom Juma who was sacked in the wake of Leopards’ Mashemeji derby loss to Gor Mahia which extended the club’s winless start to the campaign to six games.

Trucha met the squad on Tuesday at their Nairobi training base before putting them through their paces.

The tactician is aiming to revive Leopards who are going through a turbulent time following their winless start to the 2023-34 FKF Premier League season that has left them second from bottom on the 18-team log with just four points.

Trucha is not new to Leopards, having coached them between November and December 2020 before he quit, citing threats to his life after just one game in charge.

He will therefore need to start winning matches if he wants a longer stay at the den given the supporters were not ready to give Juma time, with calls for his sacking starting as early as matchday three.

Leopards will play away to Bandari on Sunday when the new coach’s tactics will be put to test with hope that his second coming will bring success.

Ingwe’s confidence levels are low following the disappointing run of form but will need to rise to the occasion quickly to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle after their huge outlay on new players in the offseason.
