Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen says Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti is the secret behind his recent form
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has attributed his current hot streak to manager Luciano Spalletti’s influence on the Azzurri team in general.
Osimhen has been in exceptional form for Napoli this season and scored again as Napoli claimed a 2-0 win over Empoli to go 18 points clear at the top of the Serie A table.
‘Spalletti always pushes me to give my best’ — Osimhen
After the game, Osimhen hailed Spalletti as a demanding coach who tries to get the best out of his players and also praised the results the team has been getting under Spalletti.
Speaking with Napoli’s media team, he said, "Spalletti always pushes me to give my best, he's a very good and very demanding coach.
"He wants every player to be able to express himself at his best, and we follow him because we're doing an extraordinary job, which can be seen in the game and in the results."
The Super Eagles forward also recognised the benefit that playing under Spalletti has had on his performance and has labelled this his best season to date.
"This is definitely the best season of my career, I feel great mentally and physically, and I'm happy to be able to continue like this to achieve great goals,” he concluded.
Osimhen having his best-ever season
Osimhen is right about this being the best season of his career. He has plundered 19 goals in 20 Serie A games this season and leads the race for the golden boot.
His 21 goals in all competitions this season is his best goal tally since moving to Europe, eclipsing the 20 goals he scored while on loan with Charleroi.
Oismhen is in incredible form and has scored in nine of his last 10 matches with Napoli, totalling 11 goals in this stretch. and is on one of the hottest streaks in Europe at the moment.
