Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has raised a couple of eyebrows after revealing to who he wanted to dedicate his goal against AS Roma.
Osimhen scored a stunning goal on Sunday night at the Stadio Olimpico to give league leaders Napoli a precious 1-0 victory over Jose Mourinho's Roma side.
The victory ensured Napoli continued their unbeaten start to the 2022/23 Serie A season as well as maintaining their three-point gap at the top of the table.
Osimhen's 80th-minute goal against Roma was his fourth league goal of the season and his third goal in three consecutive matches since he returned from injury.
As reported by Football Italia, Osimgen told DAZN that his goal celebration against Roma is dedicated to his 'daughter and girlfriend' because they were his motivation when he was out injured.
Osimhen said: "The hand gesture is for my daughter and my girlfriend. Every time I score a goal, I dedicate it to them, they are the most important thing for me.
"Those five weeks out were tough for me and they gave me the motivation to keep going.”
Speaking on Napoli's run of 11 consecutive victories in all competitions, Osimhen noted that with everyone knowing their role in the team, they are more focused on building the current 'momentum' since the season is still in its early stages.
“Just like I said last time, we have great solidarity in the team, everyone knows what they need to do at the right time," Osimhen explained.
"We just want to keep building on this momentum, the season is still young, so we are taking it one game at a time. Of course I am proud of this team.”
Osimhen's girlfriend and daughter have not been revealed to the public as the Super Eagles striker does not talk much about them.
Napoli will return to action on Wednesday, October 26 when Scottish giants Rangers visit the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona for their Matchday 5 fixture of the UEFA Champions League group stages.
