‘Osimhen is a Trojan for Nigeria’ - Sports minister slams Super Eagles star for outburst

The Nigerian minister for sports has expressed his displeasure at Victor Osimhen following his online outburst on former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George.

Before the resignation of Finidi, Mr John Enoh and other NFF personnel had an internal meeting following the disappointing performance of the Super Eagles.

According to reports, It was decided that a technical adviser would be appointed for the Super Eagles, leading to Finidi’s resignation.

A few hours later, Osimhen, who was reportedly injured, took to Instagram to voice his dissatisfaction with the remarks he had heard regarding his dedication to the national team.

Sports minister reacts to Osimhen’s outburst

The sports minister has finally had his take on Osimhen’s social media outburst after alleged comments about his commitment to the team.

John Enoh told Eagle7 FM Radio, “There has been a plethora of opinions on this, Osimhen is a Trojan for Nigeria, but it was low.”

Osimhen’s outburst caused a lot of reactions on social media, with some fans blaming the NFF and some blaming the Napoli striker for his reaction.

It was reported that Finidi made a statement that he would not force any player to play for the Super Eagles.

The statement led to many claiming he was referring to Osimhen who missed Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying games against South Africa and Benin Republic.

The Napoli striker reacted to the reports by going to social media to blast Finidi and claiming he told the former head coach about his injury.

The NFF are yet to make any statement regarding the situation and are more focused on making sure the Super Eagles qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after their draws against South Africa and losses against the Benin Republic.
