Victor Osimhen missed a penalty for Napoli in a goalless draw against Bologna and was substituted off shortly after, much to the displeasure of the Nigerian.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen made the headlines for the wrong reasons in Napoli's disappointing result against Bologna in Serie A.
The champions were held to a goalless draw at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara with the crucial moment of the game coming in the 72nd minute when Osimhen missed a penalty.
14 minutes later, the Nigerian was substituted off and replaced by Giovanni Simeone, leading to an angry reaction directed towards manager Rudi Garcia on his way to the bench.
Osimhen 'change am' for Rudi Garcia
Osimhen was taken off in the 86th minute with the team still in search of a goal and he had some angry words for Napoli manager Rudi Garcia
The manager opted to try a new striker in the search for the opening goal instead of pairing Simeone with Osimhen in search of the opener.
Garcia who replaced title-winning manager Luciano Spaletti in the summer has proven that he is not afraid to tinker with the squad as he also took off Napoli star Kvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 76th minute.
Osimhen's penalty miss was the closest Napoli came to scoring in the game as their winless run in the league now extends to three games.
This also makes it the fourth game in which Osimhen has failed to score for Napoli after starting the season with three goals in the first two games.
