Victor Osimhen has received his Globe Soccer award for Emerging Player of the Year
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has finally received his Globe Soccer trophy nearly two months after originally winning the award.
Osimhen won the award for Emerging Player of the Year on November 17, 2022, but could not make it to the award ceremony in Dubai to receive his prize in person so a special event was organised at the Napoli training ground instead.
But the player has now confirmed that he has received his award through his social media platforms where he shared a picture of himself posing with the golden award.
Osimhen receives Globe Soccer award
Osimhen confirmed that he had received the award with a post on his official Twitter page including a picture of his posing with the award.
Osimhen’s tweet read, “Just Receive The Globe Soccer Award For The Power Horse Emerging Player Of The Year, Thank You For The Recognition, And To Those That Have Been Supporting Me Through The Years, I Appreciate Y’all.GOD Is The Greatest.”
The 24-year-old Napoli top scorer beat Barcelona star, Gavi and Real Madrid midfielder, Federico Valverde to the award.
The award was presented to him at the Centro Sportivo Castel Volturno, Napoli’s training ground with officials from Globe Soccer and Napoli present to witness the presentation.
The Nigerian striker scored 14 league goals last season and has already scored 10 times in Serie A this season, making him the top scorer in the league.
