The soldiers were on the back foot against the law enforcers for over 60 minutes but a Stephen Etyang free-kick saw them share the spoils
Ulinzi Stars assistant coach Vincent Otieno has revealed how and why Ulinzi Stars denied Kenya Police all three points following their 1-1 draw at Nyayo Stadium on Friday.
Ulinzi were dominated for large parts of the opening 60 minutes, but Police failed to take their chances and were ruthlessly punished by a Steven Etyang equaliser in the 63rd minute. From then on, the soldiers were in full control and unlucky not to add more to give them all three points.
“The game was tough and very tactical but Police had the upper hand in the first half. We tried to contain them in the first half but in the second half, we took advantage and had the upper hand. We made them pay for failing to take their chances,” Otieno, who was standing in for the ill Bernard Mwalala said.

FKFPL Ben Stanley Omondi: From playing Chelsea, Porto at 13 to being the main man at Sofapaka
Ben Stanley Omondi has registered three goals and seven assists in his debut top flight season for Sofapaka so far this season
“Kenya Police were poor without the ball. When they had the ball, they were superb, but without the ball, they were questionable at best and ball watching. I brought in players that could work hard without the ball and exploit them on the transition."
Otieno believes the draw is a point gained considering the predicament that the soldiers found themselves in having failed to win any of their last three matches prior to the Afande derby.

FKFPL McKinstry heaps praise on Tusker's new signings and unique style of play
Gor Mahia will be hoping for a win over Tusker on Sunday that will put them back on top of the league.
“This is a point gained considering the way we played against Bidco and how we were bundled out of the FKF Cup semi-final. In the next game against Gor Mahia, we have to win in order to end our run of three games without a win," he added.
