Uganda Cranes winger Allan Kateregga is on the lookout once again following the expiry of his contract with Congolese side FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo.
The ‘Dancing Rasta’ who joined the Lubumbashi-based outfit in September 2021 has featured regularly in the Vodacom Ligue 1 and the CAF Confederation Cup last season.
Kateregga featured in all six group stage games for FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo, scoring once as the side finished third on five points in group A, but with his contract having run down, the 29-year-old is weighing options for his next move.
“My contract with FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo is winding down, I have had a great time there, but now it’s time for me to weigh the different options available and make a decision hopefully soon,” Kateregga told Pulse Sports.
“I can’t rule out staying at Lupopo if they make a better offer, though.”
However, the former Victoria University and KCCA FC winger might have to think twice about staying in the DRC, primarily because of the uncertainty regarding the top-flight league in the rich minerals state.
Ligue 1 was cancelled
The DR Congo top-flight league, dubbed the Vodacom Ligue 1 was cancelled in May due to financial constraints.
The 2022/23 season, halted in December 2022, hasn’t resumed since, with club officials and DR Congo’s football association officials disagreeing on several matters.
At the time of the halt in December, FC Saint Eloi-Lupopo were second on 22 points after nine games played.
Kateregga has enjoyed spells across the African continent featuring for sides like AFC Leopards in Kenya, Cape Town City FC, and Maritzburg United in South Africa.
