Nigeria and Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali seems set to remain at Chippa United despite links to several clubs including Kaizer Chiefs.

Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is not the most popular man at the moment in South Africa after he looks set to stay at Chippa United for the 2024/25 season.

Nwabali has been linked with a move away from United since he impressed with Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, hosted by Ivory Coast.

The 27-year-old played a decisive role as Nigeria made it to the final before a heartbreaking defeat to the hosts in the final.

Following his displays for Nigeria, his South African club, Chippa, slammed a hefty price tag on their Super Eagles star as he is linked with a possible move away from the club.

The club also revealed through the coach Sean Louw that there is no chance the Super Eagles shot-stopper would return to the club next season as he had several suitors lined up looking to sign him.

However, Nwabali, who was named as chief after the brilliant show in Ivory Coast, seems set to stay at the club with the transfer window approaching deadline day.

A section of the South African fan base loyal to Kaizer Chiefs, who wanted the goalkeeper but signed a replacement from Rwanda, is unforgiving as they mock the Nigerian.

“He is an average player, no one will buy him in the PSL. He is not good,” one of the fans stated according to Goal.

“Nwabali talks too much, he is fine at Chippa United,” another concerned fan said.

“It’s crazy how teams put unrealistic price tags on players making it difficult for players to get new teams,” another concerned fan stated.

“Nwabali must stay there, he thought he was bigger than what he was. Chippa is his level,” another aggrieved fan added.

Despite Nwabali revealing talks with clubs as he looks to grow by leaving Chippa United, there appears to be no transfer in sight for the former Enyimba shot-stopper.
