FKF CUP Ulinzi Stars edge Sofapaka on penalties to book Tusker in semifinals
Boniface Muchiri put Ulinzi ahead in the 38th minute but Sofapaka leveled matters in the 42nd minute through Adis Panoam.
While Mwalala knows that Ulinzi cannot mathematically be ruled out of the race for the FKFPL title just yet, he does not think his team will be able to contend for this season's top prize.
"We are already out of the race, and now we have shifted our focus on the FKF Cup as we need to be in continental football next season," he said.
Mwalala guided Ulinzi Stars to the semifinals of the FKF Cup on Saturday after they eliminated Sofapaka 5-4 in post-match penalties to make it to the semifinals.

FOOTBALL FKF Cup: Tusker book semis ticket after second victory over KCB in three days
The Bankers failed to get revenge for their Wednesday loss to Tusker.
The two top-flight league sides had played out to a 1-1 draw in regulation time, and they will now face Tusker in the next stage of the competition.
The Brewers dumped KCB out of the competition, beating them 2-0 in a one-sided match played at Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday.
"We are meeting Tusker in the semifinals, and we have to use the advantage in that for them, they are fighting for both titles, and they might concentrate more on winning the premiership," he concluded.
Gor Mahia is currently on the top of the league standings with 59 points from 27 matches, while Ulinzi is seventh with 40 points.
