The Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Wasilat Adefemi, has declared for Nigeria Deaf Eagles athletes from the State.
Wasilat is the first female commissioner for youth and sports in Oyo State history.

Wasilat, in line with their performance during the just concluded "World Deaf Football Championship" held in Malaysia from September 23 to October 7, 2023.
The meeting was facilitated by the Southwest Zonal representative of the Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation, Hon. Oyedeji Olusegun Abayomi.
Abayomi appealed that the State host the 6th Edition of the National Deaf Football Championship, which will be tagged Seyi Makinde Cup 2024.
He added that competition would allow Deaf football teams to compete among themselves as a mark of honour to promote peace and healthy competition and select good players that will receive a call-up into the national team.

"We believe that more skilled players could still be selected from the State and other visiting teams; you may wish to give the Association the go-ahead to submit a request with a comprehensive budget towards the hosting and sponsorship of the Championship under your watch for approval of the most Disability friendly Governor that deserves the national honour through your Honourable office so that you include it in your ministry's budget for 2024, please."
