The East Africa PAMOJA bid triumphed over Senegal, Botswana, and Egypt at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo.

The anticipation surrounding Uganda co-hosting AFCON 2027 with neighbors Kenya and Tanzania is palpable, with FUFA president Moses Magogo receiving accolades for the successful bid.

The East Africa PAMOJA bid triumphed over Senegal, Botswana, and Egypt at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo.

As host nations, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania automatically qualify for the tournament. Magogo shared the excitement, noting.

“We are going to have at least nine matches; Uganda will host their three group games like Kenya and Tanzania, which is excellent.”

He highlighted the ease of inter-country movement, allowing fans to travel efficiently between the co-hosting nations.

“This edition stands out” with a combined audience of up to 200 million people, Magogo remarked.

The Budiope East legislator expressed his gratitude towards the government and everyone who supported the bid.

“It’s one thing to take Uganda to AFCON; it’s another to bring AFCON to Uganda, and we’ve achieved both.”

He thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Minister in charge of Sports, the speaker, her deputy, the entire house, and all Ugandans who believed in the cause.

Magogo’s enthusiasm extended to inviting Africa to East Africa, emphasizing it as Uganda and East Africa’s moment to shine on the continental stage.

To prepare for the prestigious event, Uganda is committed to ensuring all proposed facilities, including the Mandela National Stadium, a stadium in Hoima, and the recently renovated Nakivubo Stadium, meet the necessary standards in time for the tournament.

This occasion marks the first time these three East African countries will host the football showpiece.
