Riko warns Super Falcons
Riko Ueki has said that her teammates are gearing up for the clash against the Super Falcons, insisting they are ready to score goals.
Ueki stated that Japan's goal against the Super Falcons is to score goals in the upcoming encounter against Nigeria.
According to Nikkan Sports, she said, "Of course we want to score goals through attack, but if we can get on the right foot, that can change the situation.
"Aggression in defence is one of our strengths. They're not the type to build up plays, so we need to find an opening up front."
The West Ham Women's Young Hammer of the Year for the 2023-2024 season has scored twelve goals for Japan since her debut.
After close losses to Brazil and Spain, the Super Falcons are one of four teams in the competition without a point.
Although Randy Waldrum's side has one of the strongest defences in the Olympics, their offence is the weakest.
However, they will need to defeat Japan if they are to have a chance of qualifying for the next round.
