The Manchester United player is in a legal battle with a club over unlawful fines.

Manchester United winger Antony has launched legal action against his former club, Ajax, over what he claims are "unlawful" fines imposed before his £85.5 million transfer to Old Trafford in 2022.

The Brazilian international reportedly missed training sessions and a league match in his efforts to force a move to Manchester United in 2022.

At the time, then-Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder expressed his frustration, stating he only wanted players "fully focused on Ajax."

Now, the Daily Mail reports that Antony is accusing Ajax of deducting money from his wages after the transfer was finalised.

According to Dutch newspaper AD, these fines amount to "a few hundred thousand euros." A source close to the case corroborated the importance of the sum.

The dispute is being handled by the arbitration committee of the Dutch Football Association, with a hearing commencing on Monday in Zeist, near Utrecht.

Antony initially filed his case with the committee six months ago. Decisions in similar cases are typically reached within a month of the hearing.

Antony's time at Manchester United has been marked by a big gap between expectation and reality. The Brazilian scored on his debut against Arsenal, he has only added 11 more goals across three seasons.

His only goal this season came in a Carabao Cup match against Barnsley. He has struggled to maintain a regular place in the starting lineup under both Erik ten Hag and current manager Ruben Amorim, leading to speculation about a potential January transfer.

The contrast between his performances at Ajax and his struggles at United has been stark.
