You need to shut up and learn from Messi — Ruud Gullit to Real Madrid star
Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit believes one Real Madrid star must follow the example set by Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
What happened
Los Blancos went to the top of the LALIGA standings days ago after winning their outstanding game against Los Che.
As the scoreline suggests, it was not smooth sailing for the champions, who had to chase the game with 10 men and needed a late winner from Jude Bellingham.
Vinicius was shown straight red in the 79th minute of the game, when he shoved Valencia’s shot-stopper Stole Dmitrievski in the face, a flagrant reaction to the Macedonian’s attempt to pull him up while he was protesting a foul in the penalty area.
Referee Cesar Soto Grado consulted VAR and summarily dismissed him. A seemingly frustrated Vinicius attempted to accost the official but was saved from more trouble by his teammate, Rudiger.
The winger's punishment was announced yesterday, and he was handed a two-match ban, meaning he will miss the LALIGA clashes against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid.
What Ancelotti said
Real Madrid's gaffer was not impressed with the judgement. He had initially criticised the decision to even send Vinicius off in the first place, stating it was a mere yellow card offence.
Speaking ahead of their SuperCopa de Espana Semi-final clash against Mallorca, after the news of the suspension had broken, he lamented the decision, saying:
“It’s unfair. I hear the insults and what he suffers. it’s not right. I get tired of it… when people talk about Vini’s behaviour, all the insults, abuse and other things that happen to him are forgotten.”
