FOOTBALL Pepsi UFL: Still all to play for between Bugema and MUBS

MUBS have not won the UFL since 2015, when they clinched their second consecutive title, and should be hungry for a third trophy this year.

Bugema University and Makerere University Business School remain on course for a place in this year’s Pepsi University Football League semifinals.

There’s all to play for between the two institutions in the second leg of this quarterfinal in Nakawa following a goalless draw in the first leg played in Bugema on Tuesday.

It was the first meeting between Bugema and MUBS in this competition, and this was evident from the slowness of both teams.

The second meeting on Tuesday, March 5 is expected to be an improved show with a semifinal slot at stake.

MUBS have not won the UFL since 2015, when they clinched their second consecutive title, and should be hungry for a third trophy this year.

On the other hand, a third-place finish is Bugema’s best performance at the tournament, and they’ll be looking at going a step further.

Meanwhile, Makerere University has a narrow advantage over Uganda Christian University in the other quarterfinal that has been played so far courtesy of a 2-1 win at home.

The first legs of the remaining two quarterfinals will be played on Thursday and Tuesday, with Nkumba University hosting holders Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi and last year’s runners-up St Lawrence University visiting two-time champions Kampala University, respectively.
