Osimhen scored to earn the Super Eagles a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic, bringing his tally for the national team to 23 goals.

With the goal against Benin Republic, Osimhen and Odegbami are now joint-second all-time leading scorers for the three-time African champions.

However, Rashidi Yekini remains Nigeria's all-time leading international goalscorer with 37 goals in 58 matches but 25-year-old Osimhen is aiming to break the record set by the former Shooting Stars player.

Osimhen has scored 23 goals in 37 matches for the Super Eagles, although he is 14 goals shy of Yekini's record, the 25-year-old has plenty of time to advance on the list of Nigeria's all time goal scorer.

Reacting to Osimhen's latest feat, Segun Odegbami disclosed that the national team is blessed with talents, and he is happy to see them excel.

“It’s a good thing (that he has equalled my record). This shows we now have players who can deliver the goals for the national team,” Odegbami said on Eagle7fm.

Osimhen aims to surpass Odegbami when the Super Eagles face Rwanda's Amavubi on Monday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
