Martin Zubimendi has reportedly issued a “come and get me” plea to Liverpool months after rejecting them.
Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi, appears to be having second thoughts about his decision to reject a lucrative £51.3 million transfer to Liverpool during the summer window.
Initially, the 25-year-old Spaniard was set to become a key player under new manager Arne Slot, who envisioned him as an integral part of the Red’s midfield.
However, at the last minute, Zubimendi rejected the Premier League giants and opted to stay with his hometown club, expressing reluctance to leave the familiar environment of Sociedad.
And now, the decision is now reportedly weighing heavily on him, especially as Sociedad has struggled this season, managing only one win and sitting 16th in La Liga.
Sociedad’s rocky start to the new season is believed to have intensified Zubimendi’s doubts about his choice, prompting speculation that he might seek a move to Liverpool in the upcoming January transfer window.

According to a report from Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo, Zubimendi has reached out to Liverpool, asking them to reconsider their interest due to concerns regarding Sociedad's sporting direction.
With three years left on his contract, Zubimendi is reportedly now ready to join Liverpool - a notable shift from his previous stance, having insisted just weeks ago that he was content with his decision to remain at Sociedad.
Arne Slot confident in Liverpool squad after bright start to the season
Despite Zubimendi's change of heart, Liverpool coach Arne Slot remains optimistic about the Red’s current squad.
He stated, “I said many times already that I think our squad is really strong, and it is not so easy to find players that can help us or can even strengthen the squad. Zubimendi was one of them, to be fair, but he decided not to come, and then we go forward with the ones we have.”
As the January transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen if Liverpool will reignite their interest in Zubimendi.
